Understanding Pride
Pride is considered the original and most serious of the seven deadly sins. It is the excessive love of self and the desire to be more important than others, refusing to acknowledge that all our gifts come from God. Pride was the sin of Lucifer and led to his fall from heaven.

Humility is the recognition that all our gifts and talents come from God. It is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less. The humble person acknowledges their dependence on God and treats others with respect and dignity.

A Prayer for Deliverance from Pride
Lord Jesus, who was meek and humble of heart, grant me the grace to see myself as I truly am—a sinner in need of Your mercy. Help me to recognize that all good things come from You, and to treat others with the dignity they deserve as Your children. Amen.
