Land of Martyrs
Capital City
On August 6, 2023, as youth from around the world joined the Pope in Lisbon, Portugal, the Holy Father announced the next World Youth Day would be held in Seoul, South Korea.
"Dear young Koreans, now it is your turn! By carrying the Cross in Asia you proclaim the love of Christ to all."
World Youth Day Seoul 2027 marks a historic moment as the first World Youth Day to be held in Asia. South Korea, known as the "Land of Martyrs" for its rich history of Catholic martyrdom, welcomes young people from across the globe to celebrate their faith together.
The World Youth Day Cross and Icon are traveling across Asia, bringing the message of Christ's love to young people throughout the continent.
Join young Catholics around the world in praying the Rosary for the success of World Youth Day Seoul 2027 and for peace in the world.
The official Local Organizing Committee for WYD Seoul has indicated that the main event registration through their official website is not open yet but will generally start approximately one year before the event. The specific start date for the main event registration is scheduled for Monday, August 2, 2027, the day before the main events begin.
Most pilgrims attend WYD as part of a diocesan or parish group. These groups often open their own registration to coordinate travel logistics, flights, and accommodations.
Since 1985, World Youth Day has brought millions of young Catholics together to celebrate their faith with the Holy Father across the globe.
